Adoption Services

Family, Youth and Child Services of Muskoka offers a variety of Adoption Services.

Birth Parent Counselling:

• Counselling services for parents experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.
• Option counselling (abortion, adoption, decision to parent).
• Supportive counselling is provided throughout the duration of the pregnancy, the birth and ultimate relinquishment, if adoption is selected.

Adoptive Applicant Services:

• 6-week training and home-study assessments.
• Support pre and post placement.
• Supervision during adoption probation (6 months on average).

Adoption Disclosure:

• Non-identifying information is provided to adult adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents.
• Pre and post reunion counselling.
