Family Services are provided to families requiring long-term intervention when children are found to be in need of protection. Family Service Workers provide a broad spectrum of services to these families, including: counselling; emotional support; residential placement of children/youth as necessary; parenting education; case management; and referrals to other community based programs identified as helpful to the family.
Family Service Workers will negotiate a Service Plan with families, outlining the strengths and challenges within the family unit and the required services to assist the family. This Service Plan will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that all parties involved are working toward similar goals and objectives.
