Intensive Service Program

The Intensive Service Program provides counselling and support to families and children in their homes or in the community who are experiencing crisis situations.  The Intensive Service program is intense and concentrated over a six to eight week period.  The intense and frequent contact allow for a thorough assessment and concise goal setting to address the most pressing issues facing the child and family. The service is offered to children and adolescents up to 18 years of age and their families residing the in the District of Muskoka.

Participation in this program is voluntary and consents are required.

Services provided include:

• Behaviour management training
• Parenting techniques
• Dealing with discipline
• Establishing routines
• Household management
• Understanding developmental stages
• Accessing social services / community resources
• Preparing for individual and / or family counselling.

The 0 – 6 year intensive service workers provide a broad spectrum of services to families, emotional support, education and referrals to other community-based programs.

• Enhance early identification, intervention and treatment services for preschool aged children (0-6) in a community setting.
• Services delivered in the home and community.
• Provide or link families to appropriate parenting classes and life skills training.
• Assist parents in understanding child development and with parenting skills.
• Encourage and enhance the relationship between caregiver and child.
• Assist parents in recognizing and managing mental health issues which may affect the child/family.
