Preparation for Independence Program

The Preparation for Independence Program (PIP) delivers service to youth in the care of the Agency who are 14 years and older.  The program is designed to assist youth in developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for successful independent living and eventual entry into the work force.  Examples of program activities for the referred youth include:

  • Life skills training.
  • Support and encouragement to remain in school.
  • Pre-employment counselling.
  • Assistance and support in an academic upgrading or vocational skill development course.
  • Utilization of existing community resources in a joint effort to meet the youth’s needs.
  • Support to foster parents who care for the youth.
